Sawyer's Exclusive Low-Odor DEET Formula Provides Maximum Protection

The Sawyer MAXI DEET is an effective bug-repellent that can protect against mosquitoes and ticks for up to 10 hours. Offering DEET in its pure form, the MAXI DEET provides users with more control over the amount they apply, reducing the need for frequent re-applications.

Ideal for use in areas with extreme bug density, the low-odor MAXI DEET can be applied to exposed skin areas to protect against mosquitoes, chiggers, fleas, gnats, black flies, biting flies, and ticks, as well as the diseases they carry. Additionally, it can be used on mosquito nets, head nets, and clothing. For full body repellency, the MAXI DEET can be used in combination with Sawyer's Permethrin Spray.

The MAXI DEET is compatible with sunscreens, including Sawyer's Stay-Put formula, allowing users to enjoy both protection from the sun and insects.

While DEET is effective against mosquitoes, it is not as efficient in repelling flies. For better protection against flies, Sawyer recommends using their Premium Insect Repellent with 20% Picaridin, which was reviewed by Consumer Reports as the Fisherman's Formula in its list of safe and effective insect repellents.

DEET should not be applied to or near acetate, rayon, spandex or other synthetics, furniture, plastic, watch crystals, leather, and painted or varnished surfaces, as it may cause damage. However, it is safe to use on cotton, wool, or nylon.

When using a repellent and a sunscreen, Sawyer advises first applying the Stay-Put bonding base sunscreen, and then applying the Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent after 10 minutes. This helps ensure the bonded sunscreen is less susceptible to the solvents contained in the repellent.
